Claritas Solutions Lands £215,000 Contract with SMD

Claritas Solutions Limited has ensured one of the world’s leading subsea engineering companies and leading manufacturers of remote intervention equipment, has an IT Network and Security Solutions system that keep pace with its ambitious plans for growth.

Soil Machine Dynamics Ltd. [SMD] had realised its existing IT quickly needed to be upgraded to keep pace with its rapidly expanding North East HQ and its other offices, and the new contract for Claritas is the result.

Claritas, also based in the North East, were invited in August last year to assess the situation and to come up with a solution that would ensure SMD had a system that would not only remove any immediate problems, but critically, ensure that plans for future growth could be accommodated.

Peter Hood, Business Development Director of Claritas says: “This was a challenging situation for us as there was a big programme to install and we wanted to be able to provide a time and money saving solution as quickly as we could. Providing independent IT Solutions and working with ‘best of breed’ partners allowed us to do just that and chose the most appropriate for the contract, and at the right price.”

After winning the tender the new system went live in March and is now fully operational, and is already saving SMD critical money, time and anxiety.

Working with my IT team we completed a detailed review and project plan, which was a huge undertaking. Once the programme was in place we saw improvements literally overnight enabling our systems to run effectually and smoothly.”

SMD had accumulated various IT challenges largely as a result of rapid growth. Since 2008 the business had grown from 100 employees on a single site to nearly 300 employees over four sites, including Singapore and Houston and in the UK in Malton, North Yorkshire.

Andrew concludes: “Now working with our internal IT expertise, teamed with a proactive company like Claritas, I have engineers alerting me to any possible malfunctions, virtually before they happen. As a partnership we are now defining new solutions for our future growth, all of which allows me to manage my sector economically and successfully.”
